International Solar Energy Society.
Variant namesEstablished in 1954, the Association for Applied Solar Energy was established as a nonprofit scientific and educational corporation to promote research into new methods of utilizing solar energy and to improve efficiency of existing solar technology. In 1960 the Association became affiliated with Arizona State University in Tempe where it remained until the organization relocated to Australia. The Association changed its name to the Solar Energy Society in 1963 and to the International Solar Energy Society (ISES) in 1971.
